Good and versatile appliance, but with ...
Good and versatile device, but with some flaws for those who want to quickly familiarise themselves with the device.
Pluses:
+ Can simultaneously record two channels and play a third directly on the TV.
+ To programme a TV programme for recording, select the on-screen programme guide and press the record button.
+ To record the current programme, simply press the record key.
+ The unit is ideally suited as a set-top box. Its remote control operates both this unit and the TV....
+ Picture quality is excellent.
+ Very good price
Minus points:
- The enclosed instruction manual is so short as to be almost useless.
- The on-screen manual is extremely cumbersome to use and contains no reference to important functions, e.g. how to delete a recorded programme.
- There is no reference to the on-line manual in .pdf format.

- It takes 8 clicks to delete a recorded programme.
- Recorded programmes cannot be renamed.
- It takes a few hours to master the advanced functions, e.g. how to number your favourite channels.
- You see the recorded programmes as tiles instead of a list of rows. They take up far too much space.
- Playback from USB devices is not fully developed. Some USB plugs are accepted, others not.
Older Samsung devices had the so-called "any key" (=right mouse button). It no longer exists. It could have solved several problems.Not recommended!!!!
It's not what I imagined! It's very complicated to use and I can't burn the recorded films to DVD. Since I have already installed it and recorded programmes, I can't return it :(
I will now try to sell it on a platform. I have a similar device from Panasonic and this is a thousand times better!Pro

Excellent value for money
Almost ideal. You can record two TV shows at the same time, while watching a third movie already recorded on the Samsung BD-H8500's hard drive.
Very good quality. Easy to use.
Really recommend it to anyone who benefits from the ability to record multiple TV channels simultaneously, given the excellent price/performance ratio.

Overall very satisfied with my purchase. The engineers did not think enough about 1) those who are not comfortable with electronics 2) those with bad eyes...

- The round trip between the last sites seen (as with the BN59-01014A remote control) is non-existent.
- Remote control is too narrow, so two buttons can be pressed at the same time
- I would have liked a user manual in the form of a booklet, as in previous editions

I am satisfied, an inexpensive device without many frills, well suited for the user who does not want extras.
The advantage is certainly that it has 2 tuners, otherwise I could do more with cheaper Medion recorders.

- Manually recorded programmes are given a name of some kind, you cannot enter a title yourself.
Do not fulfill my desires
Good device, I haven't found all the tricks yet, only one regret, it doesn't allow to program weekly recordings automatically which was my goal when I bought it. I hope the next generation will have this option.

Super price/performance ratio. My mother (75 years old) needs the recorder and gets on well with it. The operating instructions are not detailed enough and are only available in electronic form. But it can be downloaded from Samsung!
