Very good receiver with Dirac Live

Bought this receiver as a replacement for my defective Denon X4500H.
Apart from the poorer quality front (plastic vs aluminum) and the remote control compared to the Denon, I am very satisfied with this device. The calibration
system Dirac Live works better at home than the Audyssey XT32 which was installed in the Denon.
Because of the price and the very good equipment (8K HDMI on MULTIPLE inputs, DAB+, Chromecast music ...) I have decided for this receiver.

    Great specs incl. Dirac Live

Super device, Dirac Live really makes a difference. So makes Rise of the Skywalker at home almost a cinema performance competition. Plays my 4 ohm speakers flawlessly.
At the first delivery, the display was probably unplugged
internally. Receiver was replaced in no time. Now everything i.O.

    Pro

    • 120W/ch (8 ohm, 20 Hz - 20 kHz, 0.08% THD, 2ch driven)
    • Chromecast, Airplay and Bluetooth in/out built in
    • IMAX Enhanced
    • 8K HDMI passthrough HDCP 2.3
    • Dolby Atmos, Dolby True HD, DTS-HD Master
    • DAB+ radio
    • 11.1 processed channels
    • Dirac Live
    • Spotify, Tidal etc.
    • Class A/B amplifier

    Contra

    • Class A/B amplifier ;-)
    • Remote control buttons a bit spongy

Serious alternative to Denon and Marantz

To replace my faithful Pioneer vsx-919 AH (technology break), I hesitated between a Denon x3700 and a Marantz 6015 both respectively 200€ and 300€ more expensive. I am satisfied with my choice which completes my package: Viewsonic x100 4k + Reavon UBR x100 + Chromecast 4h HDR10 dongle + Jamo 6 series (5.1.2)

I'm not going to comment on the video and sound which I am fully satisfied with. On the other hand I am used and seduced by the ergonomics and the multitude of customizable functions of Pioneer (eg we can rename each input hdmi, digital and analog on the digital display as well as we can activate / deactivate each input, set 3 listening area, bi-amplification) etc. ... Here nothing to say we remain in the excellence Pioneer. It is visually well done. Note that the streaming function via the application "Pioneer remote app" on smartphone does not suffer from any defect. it is effective, without advertising or unnecessary visual pollution. We just regret that the streaming via "Chromecast built in" does not work for the video. Note that many platforms for music are pre-integrated)

On the negative side: the remote control: the keys are "soft" it's unpleasant, there is no backlight either. The plastic is not very nice for a device costing more than 1000€. Nevertheless its use is reactive. No latency whatever the command. The possibility to customize 3 keys at will is a nice touch.
Also the presence of a single optical input. 2 would have been ideal, other competitors are equipped with them.

In the end, we remain in the Pioneer universe with a device that is simple to use but complete, with an audio streaming management that provides a successful and pleasant experience.

    Pro

    • Numerous settings
    • efficient bt audio streaming
    • Fluid and simple menu tree

    Contra

    • Remote control
    • 1 single spdif/optical input

    Poor workmanship, plastic front

I have now received the 3rd device in exchange.
The first one had a defective display after 6 weeks.
On the 2nd and 3rd unit, the front flaps are bent so badly that they are not glued to the back part. They are gaping apart.
    Unacceptable
    for this price range.

    Pro

    • A top receiver in and of itself, but........
