    Don Quixote

He does his work diligently and in a coordinated way - but anyone who thinks he can just drop everything is mistaken:

He likes to fight with small carpets like bathroom rugs (and loses)
He likes to fight with bathroom
scales (and moves on after he has mated with the thing several times)
He likes to fight with sliding door thresholds (and loses - by the time he realises there's a precipice following, he's already stuck)
He likes to fight with clothes horse (and loses)
He likes to fight with cables of all kinds (and loses regularly)

So a very brave Don Quixote who never tires of going into battle - but loses again and again.
If you don't make the flat Roomba-ready in advance, you may evacuate him from another battlefield every time he returns to the flat and repatriate him to the charging station for the purpose of feeding his tired batteries.

As befits a true fighter, he is a rough fellow who likes to get up close and personal with the furniture. So Ming vases are not the furnishings of choice either if you let the journeyman into your home.

Apart from these disadvantages, he really tries hard - and dutifully creates dust-free floors - even under furniture.
OK, he doesn't like building dust, he spreads it more than he sucks it in - but you can hardly ask him to do that.

Would I buy it again? Yes, because I'm lazy.

Does the manufacturer still have homework to do? Yup, without a doubt. There should still be some room for improvement, especially in terms of learning ability...

We are thrilled and wouldn't give our Roomba 980 away!

We bought the Roomba this week because we have two Maine Coon cats that bring a lot of dirt into the flat. From burrs in their fur, which of course get removed and thrown on the floor when cleaning, to various leaves in their fur, dirt stuck to their fur feet etc. We can vacuum 3 times a week and it is still never really clean. That's why we got the Roomba 980.

I must say that after this short time we are simply thrilled with our Roomba. It's very easy to use (including remote control via app), its very good suction power, the carpet turbo mode, etc. Yesterday it found a shrew in the flat during its daily tour and even it was vacuumed. Anyway, it was in the collection bin, which made us laugh quite a bit.

The price is high, but it's worth it! To all those who have animals / children, where vacuuming 1-2 times a week is not enough: clear purchase recommendation! If you calculate the time you otherwise "waste" on vacuuming during your entire period of use (2-4 years), the price is no longer soooo high. And the feeling of coming home in the evening and the flat is spotless is of course really "casual". In any case, we wouldn't give up our new family member.

    Pro

    • Control via app (exact suction times can be set for each day, etc.)
    • Very good suction power
    • Carpets are detected well -> turbo mode removes dirt perfectly there too
    • Due to its shape, it can also reach difficult places (under the bed, sofa, etc.).
    • Very simple and self-explanatory commissioning and handling
    • Good quality and workmanship

    Contra

    • High price, but justified
  • After more than a year: Wouldn't give it away again!

Was it worth the price? Yes. Great device, powerful, almost perfect.

    Pro

    • Reliable, powerful, thorough and efficient
    • Can be launched from the office via WiFi - app also quite useful in other respects
    • Minimal maintenance: dust the mechanics every few weeks (possible without tools)
    • "virtual walls": Batteries last around a year
    • Can be safely placed under a piece of furniture

    Contra

    • Not yet 100% perfect: runners on furniture, mobile phone cables, fluffy carpets cause problems
    • acoustic error message "battery empty" makes "her" even at 4 o'clock in the morning in full volume
    • Charging station should be fixed, is too light, slips from time to time
    • It's not exactly quiet
