The backpack was bought for a high school student. She is very happy with it!

I was looking for a new laptop backpack and am extremely satisfied with the Deuter Gigant. Its only drawback is the insufficiently padded compartment, even for laptops up to 17 inches. What is also very important to me is that the rucksack is waterproof! Because the numerous electronic devices don't like water/moisture too much!
Unfortunately, there is NOWHERE to be found any information about the water column up to which the rucksack is waterproof. So: test it yourself!
On 10.12.23 ~00:45-02:00 it rained very heavily between Schaan FL/Mauren FL (https://www.timeanddate.de/wetter...) so I ventured outside with my bike. After an hour and a half (~1h30min/45min) in the rain, I have to say the backpack at least passed its first endurance test with flying colours. All 3 storage compartments were dry as dust! No moisture or anything else either!
On the last photo you can see the NB compartment, which I criticise a little - but if it should throw me on my face with the bike, even padding won't make much difference. Nevertheless, I am absolutely satisfied!
All the smaller storage compartments, as well as a compartment that can be closed with a zip, hold everything that makes your IT heart beat faster! If you fill the 32-litre rucksack with all kinds of stuff, the weight increases rapidly. Thanks to its comfortable straps, detachable waist belt and infinitely adjustable chest strap, it sits firmly on your back.
Thanks to the "Airstripes System", the back is also continuously supplied with fresh air so that the back is not completely soaked with sweat in no time at all.
I'm glad I opted for this model.

As usual from Deuter, impeccable quality. The backpack is also perfect as hand luggage on the plane. The thing has quite a lot of storage space and a sensible layout. However, due to the (deliberate) lack of a hip belt, you should refrain from carrying a lot of weight for long periods; in this case, it's better to go for a hiking model. One star is deducted because it cannot be opened from below like a bag.

Giga is a little smaller than the Gigant... plus the backpack has no zippers on the side pockets as shown. Only open elastic pockets.
Completely wrong.
