Good value for money for this audioVideo amp. The sound is satisfactory in Home Cinema with a Klipsh 5.1 set, even if we are far from high fidelity, but it is not what we ask from this kind of device.
Very easy to adjust thanks to the supplied microphone.
Among the disadvantages, the obligation to print out the user's manual which is highly necessary for certain configurations. A good ream of paper is needed......

Very powerful, fantastic sound, many connection options, easy setup, good control via WLAN and smartphone/tablet

In terms of sound, it's a great receiver when it works. It is already defective for the second time, always with the same problem. The unit simply switches off after a few minutes of operation and the red LED flashes. This is probably a circuit breaker that protects against overload.

Great device also for the next few years on the cutting edge.
For what I need it for, it's actually completely overkill. .

The Android app "Denon avr Remote" is unstable in terms of connection, especially with WLAN. Better to connect the receiver via LAN and operate it with another app. Otherwise a great receiver.
Workmanship could be a little better.
I bought the thing to listen to radio streams etc. via WLAN. But the box does not reconnect if the stream is interrupted. Such a missing basic feature is really annoying, especially since the station selection is not really easy. However, you can use the app on your smartphone, which is not really intuitive either.
I wouldn't have bought the device if I had known beforehand. Even my wife asks if it's defective because the music often just goes out. It's just stupid without reconnect. But maybe they will update it?
PS: If it works, it works well and the rest is also in line with the price. That's why I didn't give it 0 or 1 stars. If the problem is still updated and maybe the app gets better, I'll give it 5 stars.
PS: Gives up the ghost shortly after 2 years - obsolescence...

I bought the thing, took it home and, according to the operating instructions, put it into operation in no time without any problems. I would buy it again immediately.
In my opinion, the Denon 4200W is worth every euro! To be honest, I had first flirted with its predecessor, which is also sold here at a reasonable price. However, one must not forget:
1. HDCP 2.2 is mandatory. Full stop. Without this current copy protection procedure, it is simply not possible to play 4K content that is typically HDCP 2.2 protected. This may not be relevant now due to the fact that there is not yet much content in 4K, but in my opinion it will change significantly over time.
2. FINALLY I can understand speech (e.g. Tatort) perfectly and clearly through the centre. Sounds strange, but I didn't have it before, despite high-quality receivers from other manufacturers.
I like the included microphone holder (made of cardboard). Great idea. The set-up is very clear and should really be gone through.
Important:
I had problems connecting the receiver to the WLAN (Fritz Box). The trick: The receiver connects to the WLAN via app support. I then cancelled the process with "Back"; afterwards I can select "WPS" (or select the network manually). Then it worked immediately.
Hope it helps; I am very satisfied.

Flawless device in a beautiful, simple Denon design.
I recently got the Denon AVR-X4200W. It differs from its smaller brothers in that it has a more sophisticated interface, more power and can control more channels. Its range of functions is overwhelming and to try out all the possibilities you need time and have to deal intensively with the functions. Despite the large number of functions, which makes the system very complex, I was very surprised how easy it was to set up the receiver with the help of the setup wizard. For the time being, I am using it as a 5.1 receiver and will gradually expand the system to a 5.1.2 and then 7.1.2. I am very satisfied with the sound. The performance also seems sufficient. At the moment, I'm only struggling with the input level settings for the individual sources. I have not yet managed to adjust the input level of the TV signal to the other input levels. However, I probably just lack the "knowledge of how".
