I bought a combo of this 4G-AC55U and RT-N66U. RT-N66U sits in our house on public static IP, with pluged HDD and configured AiCloud and VPN Server. While 4G-AC55U is in our second flat where we don't have option for cable internet connection
so it's connected over LTE and with VPN client connected to RT-N66U. At the end I can access all my computers, shared hdd (media server) , even data downloaded with download manages (including torrents) in both my homes. On 4G-AC55U network there is also Playstation4 connected and because of this setup I can set UPnP, DMZ and port forwarding because of NAT Type (which I wasnt with OEM LTE modem).
It just took me quite a while to configure everything but that's maybe because I am not so much experienced with this stuff. But I am really pleased with results.
So far seems like 4G-AC55U offers all functionalities as RT-N66U does and there all works fine. But I am using it just as LTE VPN client and for this works well. Just to pay 3 times more then RT-N66U only for LTE modem seems quite expensive for me, but while checking competitors there is not so much other options. … more
Les options sont un peut trop technique du coup c'est difficile de bien gérer la sécurité, QOS, IPTV, et autres outils. Je n'ai pas oser mettre a jour les firmware suite au commentaire de Grasmi ici et plusieurs autres sites (Troll???)
I bought this device. It worked ok (ok, I was not amazed with the wifi or mobile 4g speed) with the original firmware. After upgrading the router and modem firmware provided on the Asus site (188.8.131.52.378.8150), I can no longer get a 4G signal
with Salt in Switzerland. In the box, Asus provided card with "VIP support", but quite frankly, the support has been absolutely terrible. They provided a firmware update, but there is no way to downgrade it. So if you buy this, PLEASE DO NOT UPDATE THE FIRMWARE or you will end up with an expensive paper weight like I have. Asus support has said they cannot provide a way to downgrade the modem firmware (you can downgrade the router firmware, but that does not work with the updated modem firmware that the latest update includes). Asus are just saying I need to return it to the company I bought it from, and the company I bought it from are just saying I need to return it to Asus. So great customer service and support all around really. Based on the support I have received from Asus, I would never buy another Asus product, and would strongly recommend you think twice if you are considering it.

Eine erhebliche Verbesserung gegenüber unserem alten, batteriebetriebenen Mobile Access Point. WiFi stark und Mobilfunkempfang ebenso.
Leider ist das Mobilfunkmodem nicht besonders stabil. Benötigte nach drei Tagen einmal Aus+Einschalten (Restart über Webinterface war nicht genug). Nach zwei weiteren Tagen war nochmal ein einfacher restart notwendig. … more
