Questions about WD My Cloud EX2 Ultra

I have a WD My Cloud EX 2Ultra with 2 x 4 TB and would like to replace it with 2 x 8 TB. According to WD, you need a 48 W power supply instead of the 32 W one. Can anyone tell me which 48 W power supply fits and whether there is a suitable one here in the shop? Unfortunately not available from WD. Thank you 🫣

I don't know if this is a good idea, because replacing hard drives in a 2 bay NAS system will be necessary again at some point. I would recommend a new NAS instead, e.g. a Synology DS418, they are not expensive, but can be expanded very well with up to 4 hard drives. I would either sell the existing WD NAS completely or use it as a backup solution for the new NAS to save the most important data. Or you can take the two 4 TB disks in the DS418 and buy another one for 3 x 4 TB. This way you also get 8 TB gross capacity, but you don't have to discard any hard drives. In general, you can also assume that a 48 watt power supply unit is probably more difficult to obtain, and those with 60 watts often cost up to 100 francs.

Have the compatibility problems of WD My Cloud EX2 Ultra with High Sierra been resolved? According to the information in the official WD shop, it should run with High Sierra. Thanks for the help!

I don't think so :/ In the operating instructions on page 9, High Sierra is not listed among the supported operating systems: https://documents.westerndigital.com/content/dam/doc-library/de_de/assets/public/wd/product/nas/my_cloud/ex2_ultra/user-manual-my-cloud-expert-series-ex2-ultra.pdf This contradicts with the info on the product page, this is probably a mistake.... If in doubt, perhaps Western Digital support can provide even better information 😅

Is everything pre-installed with mirroring in the Raid system? and can it just be unpacked, data on it and attached? Does it work on the Samsung TV?

Yes, RAID 1. If I remember correctly, during the first start-up there was a kind of configuration wizard where you set the "admin| password", ... It also works fine with Samsung TV (via DSLN Media Server).

Yes, I stream via Nvidia TV Shield to my TV.

Is the settings file with the access rights of the WD MY Book Live 3TB compatible with the MY Cloud EX2 ? we would like to replace it in the near future due to lack of space, do you know the Stby. Power consumption ?

Unfortunately, the WD MY Book is not compatible with the WD MY Cloud for data transfer. We do not have any more precise information on power consumption, only that the MY Cloud consumes about 48 watts in normal operation.
