The device supports WireGuard VPN, as Ubiquiti UniFi Gateways generally offer WireGuard as a VPN server and VPN client. WireGuard is integrated in the UniFi Network application under Teleport & VPN and is recommended as a fast, secure and easy-to-configure VPN service. The device is therefore compatible with WireGuard.
Your question is a little unclear to me. The Cloud Gateway Ultra alone is a router without WLAN. However, it could be used to configure other Ubiquity network products. Do you have access points from this brand?
Ubiquiti's "Cloud Ultra Gateway" can manage more than 30 UniFi devices and up to 300 clients without limiting the number of connected devices such as a controller. This allows complete network management via the UniFi Network interface, which is different from other models limited to 5 UniFi devices.
I have a similar setup with a Salt fibre optic router. I go from port 1 of its Ethernet ports to port 5 (Internet port) of the gateway. From the gateway, I go from its port1 to any port of the US 24 PoE. I started the setup with the Unifi mobile app (https://dl.ui.com/qig/ucg-ultra/#index) and continued with the Unifi Site Manager at https://unifi.ui.com/ after the initial setup.
If that doesn't help, you would have to describe in more detail what is not working.
Hi, I've had this kind of problem on a Dream Machine Pro SE using flat ethernet cables (digitus). I'm not sure whether the problem was more to do with the cable or a software bug in the console.
The injector mentioned is correct for this antenna.
Hello everyone, I hope someone can help me out.
My provider (Sunrise/Yallo) does not provide me with a cable router that I can bridge – so I have to use it instead of the Cloud Gateway Ultra. I however need to use my Cloud Gateway Ultra to control Ubiquiti UniFi U7 Outdoor AP and just can’t get it to work. I am using a Ubiquiti UniFi Switch 24 Poe and have an NVR and cameras connected too.
Question:
The DHCP is done by the provider’s router and its IP is 192.168.0.1. What are the necessary settings on the Cloud Gateway Ultra to make this work? How should I do the cabling?
I really appreciate your help!
The Ubiquiti Cloud Gateway Ultra acts as both a gateway and a router. Here are the relevant details:
- It manages more than 30 UniFi network devices and over 300 client devices.
- It provides full network management through the UniFi Network System, including routing, IDS/IPS and multi-WAN load balancing.
- It has four Gigabit Ethernet ports for connecting network devices and a 2.5 GbE Ethernet WAN port for connecting to the modem.
In your scenario (FTTH -> modem -> gateway -> switch -> APs and LAN devices), the Cloud Gateway Ultra can assume the role of the router and simultaneously manage the WLAN access points (APs) and other network devices.
This device here can't do what you want.
What you are looking for is a router with 5G (https://www.digitec.ch/en/s1/producttype/routers-64?filter=20705%3D510013). However, you must have an additional SIM card. With most mobile phone subscriptions, you can buy an additional SIM card per month for a few francs.
However, before I would spend 200 francs on such a router, I would first make absolutely sure that the Internet problem at home is not a problem with your setup (WLAN router position, etc.), but really the Swisscom connection. Since the latency with the 5G will probably be worse than with the house connection, which is not so good for online games via the Playstation, for example.
The cloud gateway where you asked the question here is just a hub if you have other Ubiquiti devices to update and control them together.
