this soundbar can't loop through 4k, but if the tv can do 4k and the player can do it, the sound should be fine when the player is connected to the tv, right?

4K also has nothing to do with the sound, but with the picture. This means that if, for example, an UltraHD Blu-ray player is connected, which delivers a 4K picture with sound to the soundbar, sound will come out, but no picture on the TV afterwards. It's just effectively a question of how you get the sound to the soundbar. The question should rather be whether your TV can transmit the sound coming from the player to the TV to the soundbar via HDMI ARC. The best thing to do is to ask the manufacturer of your TV.
