So, if the Syno has no power at all, then there can be problems (data loss, no booting, etc...)... As a UPS, I have posted this one, which goes a long way: APC Back-UPS Pro (900 VA, 540 W, line-interactive (protection class 5)). You can also connect it to the syno via USB, then the syno will automatically shut down when the limits are reached... And if necessary, a smaller one will also do... Have fun and LG

Synology NAS cannot be connected together to expand the storage size. However, there is the DX517 expansion module that can be used to expand a DS920+ or DS918+ solution so that the disks in the Dx517 can be used to expand the existing NAS. Synology DX517 Expansion Unit

Hoi - "Better" is quite subjective - that is, what is better for one person is unimportant for another. Here is a comparative test from Golem: https://www.golem.de/news/seagate-ironwolf-und-wd-red-plus-im-test-die-richtige-festplatte-fuers-nas-finden-2105-156360.html I hope it helps you to make a decision, wish you happy holidays and LG

1. it says 4x4TB and 4GB RAM. 2. hard disks may already be installed in the bundle. If not, it's easy, just remove the frame, fix the hard drive with 4 screws and slide it in. 3. M.2 slots have nothing to do with RAM and are both free. They description for SSD cache. 4. https://www.synology.com/en-us/products/DDR4 -> D4NESO-2666-4G -> DDR4 SODIMM 2666 5. no the operating system is installed, just connect to the network and set up via web interface or Synology application.

The Iron Wolf are SSD?

I think the IRON Wolf are normal SATA disks. But they have CMR technology! Only if I fill up a NAS with 4 HDDs with 4 TB, I don't have 16 TB but only 12 TB of useful capacity!

...right, 4x8TB non GB disks are in there, with RAID0 that's 28800 TB formatted, the bays are clearly lockable and a lot of things are not right at Digitec Galaxus, the descriptions, the specifications or is incomplete and the warranty is also not always right. Price errors are also possible. That's just the way it is and maybe it will change this year or next year.
