do the buttons also work with gloves?

Yes, they are normal buttons. However, I have to say that I was always disconnected and that is very annoying while driving.

Can you also use the button to control other apps that have nothing to do with audio or video, e.g. click the button that has the focus in the app currently in use?

Unfortunately, only the music app can be controlled with this button.
