The power supply unit of the light chain is not officially fully weatherproof and is recommended by the manufacturer for indoor use. Although the power supply unit bears a sticker with "for indoor use only", the print underneath shows IP67 certification, which indicates that it is suitable for outdoor use. Nevertheless, outdoor use is currently considered to be at your own risk and the guarantee or warranty may be invalidated in the event of damage outdoors. The light chain itself is weatherproof and suitable for indoor and outdoor use, but the power supply unit is not explicitly labelled as weatherproof.
You can control the light chain via the Philips Hue app using Bluetooth without necessarily needing the entire Hue system or the Hue Bridge. The app allows basic functions such as on/off, dimming and colour change. However, the Hue Bridge is recommended for advanced functions such as automation, remote control and smart home integration. The app is therefore sufficient for basic control, but the Bridge significantly expands the possibilities.
Yes, the lights can flash thanks to effects such as sparkles, shimmers and dynamic modes available via control with Philips Hue Bridge or app. Customised lighting effects can be created, including music-synchronised flashing or twinkle effects in different shades of white and colour.
I bought the 100cm version (Naum is 180cm). The lights sink / disappear a little in the tree. With today's know-how, I would buy the 250cm chain and then have the lights shine not only on the outside but also on the inside (so that the tree lights up from the inside).
Have fun
Due to different purchasing conditions and changing suppliers over a certain period of time, price changes/fluctuations may occur. We generally work with daily prices.
There are two strands of 20 metres each. These are permanently connected to the distributor/adapter and cannot be removed individually.
It is approx. 2 metres from the distributor/adapter to the first LED.
The cable from the distributor/adapter to the power plug is approx. 2 metres long. This section can be extended to a maximum of 10 metres with a separate low-voltage extension cable.
For the Philips Hue Festavia light chain, especially the 40 m version, the Hue Bridge is not absolutely necessary to change the colours or brightness via telephone, but it does offer some advantages:
- Without the Hue Bridge, you can control the fairy lights via Bluetooth and the Philips Hue app. This enables basic functions such as on/off, dimming and selecting preset scenes.
- With the Hue Bridge, however, you can use the full range of functions of the light chain, including automations, remote control via the Internet and more comprehensive integration into your smart home system.
So if you only need the basic control functions, the Bluetooth connection is sufficient. However, for more comprehensive control and integration into your smart home system, the Hue Bridge is recommended.
If you already have 23 Hue lamps at home, then the light chain fits perfectly into the overall concept. Of course, Hue is not "worth it" financially, as they are relatively expensive and therefore rather luxury products (there are significantly cheaper competitor products, e.g. from Twinkly).
But the Christmas tree has beautiful lighting effects and can be "synchronised" with all the other Hue lights, which is cool. I don't regret the purchase.
We have only received offers from suppliers for 20 & 40 metre models. We may receive other offers at a later date, but we do not currently offer an 8 metre version.
So from the plug to the power supply unit it is approx. 2m.
Then another approx. 2m of unequipped cable to the first LED.
I would estimate that the LED-equipped part should be around 20 metres. There are certainly more than 16.
