Of course, it depends on the air quality in the room. In winter, I run the unit every day. Then I have to put in a new filter every 30-40 days. Unfortunately, I can't answer whether it's the same for all units. I hope this helps you.
The Carbon AC4072/10 filter is no longer available, but there is a new filter that can be used instead. The AC4072/11 HEPA filter is a high-quality HEPA filter that can filter out up to 99.97% of particles of 0.3 microns and above. It also features an activated carbon filter that can absorb odours and gases. The AC4072/11 HEPA filter is compatible with all Philips 4000 series air purifiers.
I felt the same way! Unfortunately, you can't get the PREFILTER from Sertronics (Tel. +41 (0)56 417 71 11 Fax + 41 (0)56 417 71 15, service@sertronics.ch, www.sertronics.ch), from Philips or from Philips in Germany.
This is what the technical information says. The unit copes well with bedrooms and living rooms up to 30m2 and normal ceiling height. For larger rooms, I would consult the Subag website. They offer air purifiers for larger rooms.
The unit filters pollen, bacteria, fine dust down to 20 nanometres and harmful gases such as formaldehyde: http://download.p4c.philips.com/files/a/ac4072_11/ac4072_11_pss_.pdf
