IGMP snooping would be relevant because of multicast (e.g. Swisscom TV & TV7 from Init7).
If I'm not mistaken, UPC TV has "only" unicast... so a cheap switch without IGMP snooping also works.
However, this could change in the future, as Sunrise is buying UPC. Sunrise TV uses unicast and multicast.
Yes, the unit draws an IP (I didn't expect this and then realised after I had already installed the management software...) and can also be configured via the web. I'm really amazed at what you get here for the money. GBit/s. Web GUI. VLAN (max. 10), loop detection. QoS (but I don't use it) - "only" a log is still missing :-). The type designation (on the device) is GS108Ev3.
It is best to contact the customer service department at https://helpcenter.galaxus.ch/hc/de/requests/new directly. Your request can then be examined individually.
Yes, this switch works perfectly. I think IGMP snooping is activated by default, but the setting is also very simple via "switch management". It is well documented by Netgear.
Yes, the new Netgear switches all have a fairly compact power supply. Maybe not quite as narrow as certain mobile phone/tablet power supplies, but with most power strips it should fit between two normal power cables.
In my experience, there are sometimes small differences in the size of the power supply, depending on the production batch and current regulations (e.g. for some time now, all power supplies have had a toggle switch built into the cable. In the past this was not the case, sometimes even with the same models).
Digitec has a replacement power supply for Netgear products on offer: PAV12V ( Netgear PAV12V power supply ). It is pretty much the same size as the power supply I got with this switch.
I have not measured the latency in this sense.
The ping time on our fibre connection is usually 1ms to 4ms, via this switch.
So the switch is unobtrusively fast.
This Netgear ProSafe GS108E supports the QoS mode 802.1p/DSCP Based. I have this switch and the TV-2 box. TV-2 works for me when the TV box is connected to this switch.
