Hello, we haven't had any problems with it so far. I can't answer whether it works correctly because I don't have a comparison.
No problem for our 12-year-old with small fingers. It measures oxygen and pulse reliably.

It could be that the little one's fingers are too "thin" to be detected properly by the sensor. There are special devices that can also detect a child's fine fingers correctly. I would google "pulse oximeter for infants":
