I would also like to use the backpack for snowboarding. Is the back well padded? Is the material water-repellent/waterproof? Thank you!

This backpack has good back padding thanks to the EVA shoulder padding. However, it is more suitable for hiking. It is only waterproof to a certain degree.

Dear all Is this back is also recommended for carrying a notebook? I am searching for a good back pack to carry a quite heavy notebook and also to hike. Thank you

It doesn't have padding or a dedicated compartment for notebooks. Of course you can carry a notebook, but I would recommend to use a sleeve. Did it with a MacBook Pro 13". Bigger laptops might be problematic.
