The FRITZ!Box 7590 AX v2 can always be connected to the Sunrise Connect Box 3 by operating the Connect Box 3 in bridge mode so that the FRITZ!Box acts as a router. This allows you to use the FRITZ!Box functions, including Internet and telephony.
For time and day-controlled answering machine setup on the landline telephone: The FRITZ!Box offers an integrated answering machine function with extensive setting options, including time-controlled activation. These functions are included in the FRITZ!Box software and can be used independently of the Connect Box 3, provided the FRITZ!Box handles the telephony.
The prerequisite is that the FRITZ!Box is configured as the main device for telephony and the Connect Box 3 is running in bridge mode so that telephony is handled via the FRITZ!Box. This is the only way to use the extended telephony functions such as the time-controlled answering machine.

I have just phoned AVM in Berlin and they told me that the only difference is the cables supplied, as the sockets are supposed to be different in Germany. Otherwise everything is the same.
