The Concept 20 is a unique speaker that sets new standards. To achieve this goal, the development team at Q Acoustics analyzed the fundamental issue of cabinet resonances using state-of-the-art technologies. Taming these resonances is widely regarded as the biggest hurdle in designing speakers that sound excellent while remaining affordable. The fantastically crafted, nearly resonance-free, and high-gloss lacquered cabinets provide the foundation for optimal sound quality for the 125 mm mid-bass driver and the particularly wide-dispersing 25 mm tweeter. The cabinet of the Concept 20 features a special "box-in-box" construction: the "Gelcore" cabinet has double MDF walls, with the space in between filled with a gel that absorbs resonances and converts kinetic energy into heat. Even the attractive aluminum front serves more than just decorative purposes: it is part of a construction that presses a layer of butyl rubber against the front wall to further reduce cabinet resonances. The Concept 20, finished with multi-layer high-gloss lacquer, is available in either black or white cabinet versions. The speakers can be placed freely in the room or directly against a wall, as they come with a foam plug that allows for bass response adjustment. Depending on the placement, it can be inserted into the rear bass reflex port to dampen low-frequency output. These innovative bookshelf speakers have already won numerous tests and awards, including "Product of the Year" at What Hi-Fi?, "Editor's Choice" at Hi-Fi Choice, and "Highly Recommended" at AV Forums.
