The renowned naturalist and artist Maria Sibylla Merian (1647–1717) primarily painted insects and plants. Merian's detailed depictions of butterflies laid the groundwork for modern entomology. Her main work is the collection "Metamorphosis insectorum Surinamensium," which illustrates and describes the life cycles of insects. This album features 18 of her most beautiful illustrations in postcard format. All designs can be easily detached and used as postcards.
