In addition to digital TV and Blu-ray, there are usually other HD picture sources such as a game console, streaming box or stick. So it's reassuring to know that the affordable VSX-531 already has four
HDMI inputs that even transmit UltraHD footage to the TV or projector. Naturally, the sound can also be high-resolution via HDMI: Dolby and dts HD multichannel formats are also decoded by the VSX-531 and, thanks to the Pioneer's MCACC automatic measuring system, are precisely adapted to your individual room acoustics, loudspeaker equipment and set-up.

If you prefer to listen to music instead of movies, you can simply use your smartphone or tablet in addition to the usual analog or digital players: Simply start your favorite music app and connect your device wirelessly to the VSX-531's built-in Bluetooth input, a USB port on the front panel powers the mobile device when needed, and can play MP3, WMA, and AAC music files directly from a memory stick. And don't be surprised if old, data-reduced files suddenly sound surprisingly fresh and natural: Pioneer has decades of experience with reconstructing lost signal components - and with the "Advanced Sound Retriever" playback program.
