Klanglich gehört der Pioneer VSX-528 ohne Zweifel zu den besten Modellen hier im Test. Darüber hinaus leistet sich der AV-Receiver jedoch ein paar Schwächen, sodass eine gute Benotung nicht mehr möglich ist. So gibt es ein paar Kritikpunkte in Sachen Handhabung und Bedienung, die hohe Wärmeentwicklung stört und auch die UKW-Radio- und Internetradio-Funktionen sind nicht so gut wie erhofft.
Der Pioneer ist trotz englischsprachiger Anleitung in kurzer Zeit installiert und auch das Einmesssystem, das automatisch läuft, klappt im Test sehr gut. Somit ist der Klang bestens für alle möglichen Situationen eingestellt und die umfangreiche Ausstattung des Receivers tut sein Übriges.
