The Panzerkampfwagen V "Panther" was certainly one of the most famous tanks of World War II. It was developed as a direct response to the Soviet tanks T-34 and KV-1, which were far superior in performance and armament to the Panzer III and Panzer IV on the Eastern Front. It was powered by a V-12 Maybach engine with 700 horsepower and was equipped with a highly effective 75 mm 42 KwK gun with high velocity, especially effective against tanks. Thanks to a solid design that optimized protection, mobility, speed, and armament, the Panther can be regarded as one of the best tanks of World War II and was deployed on all major fronts from Italy to France and the Eastern Front.
