With the Vario PS QL2.1 26L, Ortlieb has created a hybrid of rucksack and pannier. The bag with a volume of 26 litres has the tried and tested QL2.1 suspension mechanism on one side, with which it is securely attached to the luggage rack. Once you have reached your destination, the flexible front is simply folded over the hook bar to reveal shoulder straps on the side that has been freed up. This makes it easy to get around town. The "conversion" takes just a few moments and is intuitive. Ideal for urban use, the Vario PS is equipped with a laptop compartment that provides a safe place for devices up to 36 x 24.5 x 2.5 cm. An outer mesh pocket and a zip pocket integrated into the reversible front complete the features. The roll closure allows the volume of the rucksack to be adjusted to the contents. As usual for Ortlieb, the Vario PS is of course waterproof.

On one side pannier, on the other backpack, cover folds around. Intuitive handling. High-quality materials, great workmanship. Very good fastening with large adjustment range, can be operated without tools. Can be clicked in and out with one hand. Removable organiser. Removable base. Relatively heavy.
... The disadvantage of the hybrid system: the Vario PS is quite heavy, weighing 1.2 kg. This is somewhat offset by the large volume of 26 litres. This makes it the largest bag in the test field - but of course it is always used as a single bag, as you can only carry one on your back...
