The history of the Leipzig Christmas Market dates back to the 15th century. The Leipzig Christmas Market is one of the largest and most beautiful Christmas markets in Germany. Over 250 charmingly decorated stalls bring a cozy atmosphere to the marketplace in front of the Old Town Hall. The Old Town Hall in Leipzig now houses the Leipzig City History Museum. The exhibitions guide visitors through the history of the city known for trade, fairs, and the peaceful revolution of 1989. The old music is also closely associated with Leipzig through Johann Sebastian Bach.

During a city tour, historical landmarks remind visitors of the city's significant history, such as St. Thomas Church and St. Nicholas Church, the Old Stock Exchange, the Old and New Town Halls, the Old Scale, the Coffe Baum, the Café Riquet, the Monument to the Battle of the Nations, and Leipzig Central Station.
