M4250 support for Audio-Video Bridging (AVB). One of the many features of the new M4250 product line is full support for Audio-Video Bridging (AVB), an industry standard for transporting content over a network. AVB is most commonly used when very low latency is required, such as in live performances where lip synchronization is critical. All switches in the AV Line M4250 can optionally be licensed for AVB support. Power over Ethernet (PoE). With Power over Ethernet, you can power compatible devices through the network cable. This significantly reduces cabling effort for end devices like wireless access points, IP phones, and IP cameras, while also allowing high flexibility in placing these devices. 802.3at PoE. The IEEE 802.3at standard provides a maximum of 25.4 Watts of power per PoE port with a voltage of up to 50 volts. The standard assumes that after line losses, 21.90 Watts of usable power remain or may be drawn to avoid exceeding the maximum power output. For PoE, a Cat5e/6 cable with a maximum length of 100 m is recommended.
