The Indian cobra is revered in Hindu mythology and culture and is often seen with snake charmers. The snake is medium-sized and can be easily recognized by its relatively large and impressive hood, which it expands when threatened. Many specimens feature a marking on the back of their hood that consists of two circular ocelli connected by a curved line, resembling a pair of glasses.
