Product details

The expansion card (also known as an expander card) features 24 internal ports for connecting SAS or SATA hard drives, as well as 8 ports (internally or externally selectable) for connection to the SAS master card. It supports both SATA and SAS devices. Please note: A card of this type is intended for connection to a SAS controller and cannot operate independently.

The card offers 24 internal 6 Gbit/s SATA+SAS ports, 6 internal Mini-SAS (SFF8087) connectors for connecting drives (4 ports), 2 internal Mini-SAS (SFF8087), and two external Mini-SAS (SFF8088) for connection to the SAS master controller (usable internally or externally).

The chipset is SAS2X36, with a SAS half-duplex bandwidth of 600 MB/s per line. It supports passive copper and allows for the connection of up to 512 devices in non-RAID mode.

The card does not require a PCIe or PCIe port for operation. An 8-pin blank connector is available if you wish to insert the card into a PCIe slot. Power is supplied via 4-pin Molex connectors.
