The model is a replica of the CANT Z 506 Airone Historic Upgrade. Produced by the Italian company C.R.D.A. (Cantieri Riuniti dell'Adriatico), the CANT Z 506 Airone (Heron) was a three-engine low-wing aircraft known for its exceptional reliability and robustness. It was commissioned in the second half of the 1930s. Despite having a wooden fuselage and wings, the Airone could operate under very poor weather conditions. It was used by the Italian Regia Aeronautica as a bomber and long-range reconnaissance aircraft, and also for search and rescue missions at sea. Its excellent flight performance is reflected in its remarkable longevity, with some "506" examples remaining in post-war service until 1960, serving as S.A.R. aircraft for the Italian Air Force.
