The Panzerkampfwagen VI Ausf. Tiger I is undoubtedly one of the most famous tanks of World War II. It was developed to equip the Wehrmacht's armored divisions with a heavily armored and heavily armed battle tank that was meant to complement the widely used medium tanks III and IV, which could no longer effectively counter enemy tanks. The first versions were deployed in late 1942 on the Eastern Front near Leningrad and on the African front during the Tunisia campaign in the early months of 1943. Its main armament consisted of the famous and deadly long-barreled 88 mm anti-tank gun KwK 36 L/56. Mounted in the front of the turret and protected by a heavy 120 mm shield, it was capable of penetrating the armor of any enemy vehicle of that time even at great distances.
