The name of the car is derived from the engine used: an 8-cylinder inline engine with a displacement of 2,336 cm³, which became an icon in the automotive landscape of its time. The 8C could be considered "State of the Art" in terms of technology, technical solutions, and performance. Characterized by exceptional road handling and excellent reliability, Alfa Romeo achieved significant sporting victories on numerous international racetracks and associated its name with the famous driver from Mantua, Tazio Nuvolari. Among its most famous successes are the victory at the Targa Florio in 1931 and the Italian Grand Prix. This last victory also contributed to the name of the GP car, which had two seats side by side and was named "Monza" in celebration of the company. From the racing version, a production series for the street market of nearly 200 vehicles was also realized.
