The main burden of the war, which began in February 2022, has been borne by the Ukrainian ground forces. This includes mechanized, motorized infantry, mountain, tank, and artillery brigades. However, the most active participation in combat operations has come from the airborne and naval infantry brigades, which are often deployed in the most challenging areas. The Ukrainian defense forces have demonstrated their ability to fulfill necessary tasks with dignity and have developed into the most combat-ready army in Europe, possessing extensive combat experience. Small arms and anti-tank weapons play a crucial role in the armament system of the Ukrainian armed forces. The infantry units currently engaged in combat primarily use weapons of domestic and Soviet production. Among the Ukrainian weapons, the "Stugna" series anti-tank missile systems and the widely used "Fort" series pistols stand out. Special forces units utilize the "Maluk" assault rifle (also known as "Vulkan"). Additionally, there is an increasing use of weapons provided through international material and technical assistance.
