Product details
The torpedo bomber Bristol Beaufort, developed by the Bristol Aeroplane Company, was commissioned into service with the RAF Coastal Command at the end of 1939. The aircraft was used for various tasks, and its peak monthly production reached up to 30 units per month. Later, the Bristol Beaufort was improved, and the composition of its armament and equipment was changed. The Mk.IA modification featured a new machine gun turret that resembled that of the Bristol Blenheim bomber. Additionally, torpedo bombers began to be equipped with ASV radars, which were used for searching surface targets. These aircraft were deployed in the Mediterranean and North Africa, where their targets included convoys of transport ships and warships of the Axis powers. Operations in high temperatures also led to the use of modified carburettor air intakes on Bristol Beaufort engines.
