Product details
In the early 1870s, the United States experienced two of the largest fires in the country's history, the Great Chicago Fire and the Boston Fire, which resulted in hundreds of deaths and the destruction of many buildings. These events led to an increased emphasis on the training and education of firefighters. By the end of the 19th century, training centers for firefighters were established in most major cities, and in 1909, the Firefighter College was opened in New York.
With the rise of a large number of vehicles in the United States, these were utilized for a variety of tasks, including firefighting services. The vehicles allowed for a reduction in response time to incoming fire alarms, and the efficiency of firefighting was improved. In addition to their firefighting duties in cities, fire trucks were also used to protect warehouses, airfields, and military depots from fires.
