A Client Access License (CAL) for Microsoft Windows Server 2019 allows access to a Microsoft Windows Server 2019 network. Each client accessing a Windows Server (Standard, Datacenter) network must be licensed with an appropriate CAL. A CAL must be licensed for each accessing client for the highest/newest instance of a server in the network. In simple terms: If the latest server in the network is a Windows Server 2019, then all clients must be licensed with a Windows Server 2019 CAL. User licensing: The corresponding assigned user is licensed for access, regardless of the number of devices on which that user logs in (for example: a mobile worker accessing the servers from multiple devices, such as mobile, tablet, at the workplace, etc.). Note: You may also use HPE ROK CALs independently of devices and manufacturers.
