The Renault 4 CV was introduced at the first post-war car show in Paris in October 1946. Designed amidst bombings and completed in a still rationed France, the "one car for all" by engineer Ferdinand Picard became a symbol of regained freedom and a better life. The 4 CV, serving as both a family and city car, a small robust road vehicle, simple and affordable, became the first French car to be produced in more than a million units: 1,105,547 over a 14-year career.
