The Nina, along with the Pinta and the Santa Maria, was one of the three ships that Christopher Columbus set sail with to find a new sea route to India. Instead of the new route, he discovered a new continent, America, on this voyage. Like the Pinta, the Nina also belonged to the Pinzon brothers. The commander of the 60-ton caravel with a crew of 22 men was Yanez Pinzon, the youngest of the three brothers.
