The "ROC AMADOUR" was built in 1973 by the Ateliers et Chantiers de la Manche in Dieppe and equipped in Lorient by the company Armement Avry Frères. Designed and equipped for the most modern techniques of deep-sea fishing at the time, with pelagic trawls that allowed it to maneuver in great depths, it was classified as a "full stern" fishing trawler. The shipping company BOÐASTEINUR, based in Fuglafjord, purchased the vessel in the spring of 1994 and renamed it after their company. From then on, the "BOÐASTEINUR" primarily fished on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, with trips averaging 15 days.
