The Mercedes 170 V, launched in 1935, was a remarkable success. More than 100,000 vehicles of all types - sedans, coupes, and commercial vehicles - left the Mercedes-Benz factories in Stuttgart by 1952, and the 170 V model was gradually developed into the Mercedes 170 VA. As the 170 D, it was equipped with the Mercedes diesel engine. The delivery van was developed on the chassis of the Mercedes 170 V starting in 1935.
