Heller L-749 Constellation A.F.

Special features of the Heller kit: 2 decal versions: - Air France - TWA - Trans World Airlines ------- In 1939 the Constellation project was taken up at the request of the T.W.A. company. This company wanted a transport aircraft of 40 seats. The prototype flew for the first time on 9 January 1943. Due to the state of war, the Constellation began its career under a military designation, C-69, and was used in the AIR TRANSPORT COMMAND of the U.S.A. - Air Force. After the war, the first two civilian customers were T.W.A. and Pan American. The latter was the first airline to operate its Constellation on the New York-Bermuda route. The T.W.A., for its part, inaugurated the first U.S.-Europe service on 6 February 1947.
