Product details
In 1956, France and England simultaneously began studies for a supersonic transport aircraft. These efforts led to two separate projects in 1961, which were merged into a single project on November 29, 1962, involving four major companies: Aérospatiale, BAC, Rolls-Royce, and SNECMA. The first prototype, 001, left the factory in Toulouse on December 11, 1967. On October 9 and December 4, 1975, the French and British airworthiness certificates were issued after 5,400 flight hours, of which 2,000 were at supersonic speeds. The Concorde had already broken the altitude (21,000 m) and speed record (Mach 2.2). On January 21, 1976, a new era of commercial airline travel began under the colors of Air France and British Airways.
