The mass production project dates back to 1945. The Citroën DS 19 was unveiled at the 42nd Automobile Show in Paris on October 6, 1955. New materials such as plastic and lightweight metal alloys, as well as new technologies like the hydropneumatic suspension for four independent wheels, were combined with a design that divided France into two camps: one "pro" and the other "contra.".
