Product details
The Yamato was a Japanese battleship during World War II. It was the largest and most heavily armed battleship ever built. Between 1937 and 1941, it was constructed under strict secrecy at the naval shipyard in Kure and was commissioned on December 16, 1941. Its artillery featured 46-centimeter guns, the largest caliber ever used on ships for breech-loading guns. The Yamato, deemed "unsinkable," was attacked on April 7, 1945, by a total of 386 carrier-based aircraft for over two hours, sustaining 13 torpedo hits, 8 bomb hits, and suffering extensive damage from numerous near misses before sinking.
