What is a pulse oximeter and how does it work? The pulse oximeter is an electronic device for the non-invasive determination of oxygen saturation in human blood (SpO2) and the measurement of heart rate (pulse) at home. The performance of the pulse oximeter is based on measuring the absorption of two different wavelengths (red and infrared) by blood cells.
