All industrial drives require a regulated output. This can be achieved by controlling the input supply. In this context, the inverter circuit plays an important role in industrial drive applications. Industrial drives operate at high rated power, and conventional inverters are not suitable for high power requirements due to the large dV/dt (rate of voltage change) and higher switching losses. Therefore, multilevel inverters are introduced for high power and medium voltage applications. In all AC drives, MLIs operate reliably. This MLI topology also reduces the harmonics and bearing stress of a motor with low dV/dt. In most applications, multilevel inverters are used because we can achieve a greater number of voltage levels. To increase the number of voltage levels, the circuit must have more switches. However, we need to optimize the number of switches and the switching operations. Due to high currents and loads, the performance of the inverter is limited. In this article, we propose a new circuit topology that allows the switches to be active at different voltage levels, reduces switching losses, and also increases the efficiency of the inverter.
