Product details
The cartoon map is primarily designed to familiarize children with maps and spark their interest. The areas adorned in shades of green, yellow-green, yellow, and olive evoke associations with natural landscapes familiar to Polish children. Symbolic hills indicate the locations of major mountain ranges, and trees are associated with forests. Each country features not only its name but also flags that children will easily recognize, along with objects and symbols linked to that particular country, including real-life items (thermal springs, the Brandenburg Gate, the TGV high-speed train, etc.) as well as fairy tale figures (such as leprechauns from Ireland) and finally Santa Claus (from Finland). Oceans and seas—along with their inhabitants (including fish, octopuses, dolphins, jellyfish, and water birds) and floating ships—are marked with characteristic waves on a blue background. This image is complemented by information about the location of Europe. In the lower right corner of the block, there is a rose with geographical directions, commonly known as a compass rose, which provides relative indications of geographical locations. Instead of "up" – it points north, instead of "to the right of" – it indicates east, and so on. This can be a fun game that reinforces the information that contemporary paper maps and atlases are oriented to the north. Another advantage is the user-friendliness of the block: it is made of rubberized foam, which stabilizes it well on the desk, and is covered on the top with a transparent, matte film – pleasant to touch – on which you can even write with a marker and then erase your notes.
