Product details
The cartoon map is primarily designed to familiarize children with maps and spark their interest. The countries adorned in shades of green, yellow-green, yellow, and olive evoke associations with natural landscapes familiar to Polish children. Symbolic hills indicate the locations of major mountain ranges, and trees are associated with forests. Each country features not only its name but also flags that children will easily recognize, along with objects and symbols linked to that specific country, including real-life elements (thermal springs, the Brandenburg Gate, the TGV high-speed train, etc.) as well as fairy tale characters (leprechauns in Ireland) and Santa Claus (in Finland). Oceans and seas – with their inhabitants (including fish, octopuses, dolphins, jellyfish, and waterfowl) and floating ships – are marked with characteristic waves on a blue background. This image is complemented by information about the location of Europe. In the lower right corner of the block, there is a compass rose, commonly referred to as a wind rose, which is intended to provide relative indications of geographical locations. Instead of "up" – it indicates north, instead of "to the right of" – it indicates east, and so on. This can be a fun game that reinforces the information that contemporary paper maps and atlases are oriented with north at the top. Another advantage is the user-friendliness of the block: it is made of rubberized foam, which stabilizes it well on the desk, and is covered on top with a transparent, matte film – pleasant to the touch – on which you can even write with a marker and then erase your notes.
