The newcomer matches its passive counterpart in size, configuration, and sound exactly. The ZENSOR 5 AX also features the proven combination of a 25 mm textile dome tweeter and two 130 mm mid-bass drivers with DALI's characteristic reddish wood fiber paper membrane. However, a look at the back of the 84-centimeter tall speaker reveals the difference from the original ZENSOR 5: Here, there is a metal cover with the essential controls for source selection and volume adjustment, as well as the connection panel.

The ZENSOR 5 AX accepts all types of signals: a 3.5 mm jack is available for analog signals, a Toslink socket for optical digital signals, and a Bluetooth module for receiving wirelessly transmitted data in high-resolution Apt-X format. A Class-D amplifier with 2 x 50 watts RMS sine power is built into the ZENSOR 5 AX and drives the passive ZENSOR 5 via a speaker cable included in the package. A multicolored LED on the front indicates the current operating status: red for standby, yellow for the optical input, green for AUX, and blue for Bluetooth.
