These shielded patch and connection cables have a shielded plug, an overmoulding and an anti-kink sleeve in the cable sheath colour as well as a latching nose protection on both sides. In contrast to conventional PVC cables, these cables are halogen-free: the dangerous release of halogen-containing fire gases is thus excluded and smoke generation is minimized. Halogen-free cables are also flame-retardant and there is no dangerous ignition cord effect.

Screened Foiled Twisted Pair refers to cables that have a metallic shield around each pair of wires (FTP) and additionally a metallic overall shield (S). With screened cables there are hardly any impedance or reactance deviations compared to unscreened cables. The transmission parameters are also relatively constant at high frequencies and better than with UTP cables. Category 6 augmented is a standard resulting from the increased bandwidth requirements of 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GBASE-T). Cat 6A cables are designed for transmission frequencies up to 500 MHz and distances up to 100 m, as well as being backward compatible with existing categories.
