Essentially, all uncoated polyester fabrics can be printed on, and polyester blends (with at least 65% polyester content) can be used conditionally. The higher the polyester content, the more vibrant the colors. Cotton cannot be sublimated directly. The surface should ideally be white or at least light. For hard surfaces, a flat surface is required. Unlike a heat transfer or vinyl application, where artwork is adhered to a base material with adhesive, an infusible ink transfer merges with the material itself.
