The Pastelmat paper for pastel painting is both unique and innovative. It is mounted on thick cardboard (1.8 mm) for added stability. This makes the Pastelmat paper easier to frame and allows the artist to work directly on the easel. Its velvety surface with a soft feel leads to excellent pigment absorption capacity and enables layering of multiple color layers without saturation effects. The less rough surface also produces very little pastel dust during use. As a result, pigment consumption is 30 to 40% lower than with traditional sandpaper. The Pastelmat paper can also be used for wet techniques, with water-based paint or denatured alcohol-based paint, without compromising its unique properties.
