Product details
The Cisco StackWise-480 technology is based on the highly successful, industry-leading StackWise technology, which represents a high-quality stacking architecture. StackWise-480 offers a stacking bandwidth of 480 Gbps. It utilizes Cisco IOS Software SSO to ensure resilience within the stack. The stack behaves like a single switching unit managed by an active switch selected from the member switches. The active switch automatically selects a standby switch within the stack. The active switch creates and updates all switching, routing, and wireless information, continuously synchronizing this information with the standby switch. If the active switch fails, the standby switch takes over the role of the active switch, ensuring that the stack remains operational. Access points stay connected during a transition from the active to the standby switch. A functioning stack can add new members or remove old ones without service interruption. StackWise-480 creates a highly resilient, unified system of up to four switches, allowing for simplified management through a single IP address, a single Telnet session, a single CLI, automatic version checking, automatic upgrades, automatic configuration, and more. It also enables local switching in Cisco Catalyst 3850 Series Switches.
